SYBIL is a studio dedicated to the research, development and dissemination of weird gaming.
Sybil is a studio dedicated to the research, development and distribution of weird gaming.
We use weird gaming as an open descriptor that merges the most globally popular cultural medium of the 21st century — gaming — with the critical aesthetics of contemporary art. Weird gaming approaches videogames as poetic and philosophical software for the design of speculative worlds, real-time performances, ludic protocols and ecologies, fringe infrastructures, and things yet to be named.
Sybil’s mission is to foster and sustain an emergent scene of artists, game developers, gamers and researchers that do not fit within the confines of their legacy institutions, industries and genres, and whose subversive visions require new exhibition formats, spaces, funding models, and distribution platforms.
